Sbarro standalone pizza shops in Dublin and Worthington open today

sbarroeditUpdate: The Sbarro restaurants at 6485 Perimeter Drive in Dublin and at 2163 W. Dublin-Granville Road in Worthington open today.  (jj)

Previous: Sbarro’s piping-hot standalone expansion goes beyond Clintonville 9/2/2015

Not long ago, we told you about a new standalone location for Sbarro pizza that will soon be serving customers in Clintonville. The new restaurant, opening next month, will be at 3645 North High Street…former home of Peet’s Coffee and Tea. As it turns out, Clintonville residents aren’t the only Central Ohio folks getting a Sbarro.

Additional standalone locations are planned for Worthington, Dublin and the OSU campus area. It’s all part of a larger expansion plan by Columbus-based Sbarro. Restaurants will also be opening in California and New York.

Most customers are used to seeing the pizza chain operating in shopping malls and airports, but Sbarro thinks that they can find success outside of food courts. And they expect to be priced competitively with other pizza shops. They say that they have to charge higher prices in those food courts because of the high rents that they’re forced to pay to hold those lots.

There’s no word on exactly when the locations other than Clintonville will open in the area, but Sbarro seems to be moving quickly. Here’s a look at where you’ll soon find the other new restaurants.

  • 2163 W. Dublin Granville Road, Worthington (formerly Rotolo’s)
  • 6485 Perimeter Drive, Dublin (formerly Rotolo’s)
  • 1990 N. High St, near campus (formerly J. Gumbo’s)
