Remember the good ol’ times when there was more than one newspaper around? If you don’t that’s because the Columbus Dispatch has been top dog for a couple of decades.
Check out this old report from the Columbus Citizen, which was then combined with Ohio State Journal to form the Citizen-Journal.
Here’s a brief history nugget: The Columbus Citizen were pushed out of the loop by their big neighbor, The Dispatch, when The Dispatch decided to not renew what was basically an agreement for shared offices so they could capitalize on the newspaper world’s most prized possession: the morning edition, according to a 1986 report from the Columbus Monthly (also owned by the Dispatch.)
How time flies. Here are even more pics from the same issue!
