Time to celebrate, because it’s National Pizza Day, everyone’s favorite national holiday centered around food (behind Thanksgiving and National Noodle Ring Day).

Show your love for Columbus pizza joints by buying a pie from your favorite local pizzeria, or from somewhere you’ve never been.

In no particular order, with no bias towards triangular or rectangular slices, here are some of our favorite pizza places around the capital city.

Mikey’s Late Night Slice, multiple locations – What started as a food truck has turned into multiple restaurants centered around spicy-ass pepperoni, the amazing combination of garlic and mushrooms, and the “sauce with no name.” By the way, 614 Magazine readers chose Late Night Slice as the top traditional pizza joint and the top food truck in Columbus. Check out the new 4th Street location or any of the high street locations to bask in the presence of Cheezus Crust.

Hounddog’s Pizza, 2657 N High St – Truly a Columbus institution, Hounddog’s is the former 24-hour pizza joint known for its thick, loaded pies and Smokin’ Joes crust–an essential addition to any pizza for lovers of spicy food. The restaurant’s dark, boozy atmosphere make it the perfect spot to share a pizza with your honey, or a group of friends.

Borgata Pizza Cafe, 5701 Parkville St – The New York-style pizza shop in northeast Columbus is unassuming at first glance, but take one bite of their perfectly crispy thin crust and it just might take first place on your list of favorite pies. It’s tough to go wrong with pepperoni on traditional pizza this good, served on pies as large as 20 inches.

Meister’s Bar, 1168 Chambers Rd – Tucked away in the back of Meister’s Bar near Grandview is a pizza kitchen serving up the best deep dish pies in Columbus. With cheese that just doesn’t quit and a thick, delicious crust, Meister’s is the hidden gem you’ve been searching for.

Harvest Pizzeria, multiple locations – Whether you’re in German Village or Clintonville, Harvest Pizzeria is your resource for locally-sourced gourmet pizza. Want clams on your pizza? No problem. How about artichokes and almond pesto? Simple. 614 Magazine readers chose Harvest as Columbus’ number one gourmet pizza restaurant, so what are you waiting for? Celebrate National Pizza Day in style.
