Walk the Moon cancels tour dates, including PromoWest Fest

The sound you heard earlier today was the simultaneous crying of teenage girls across the country who found out that Walk the Moon is cancelling its Work This Body summer tour.

Unfortunately, that includes a headlining spot at Columbus’ own PromoWest Fest.

Lead singer and keyboardist Nicholas Petricca says he needs to spend the summer to “focus on family” in light of his father’s early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.

PromoWest Productions said a new headliner will take the band’s spot, though they have not announced who it will be.

The Cincinnati-based dance-pop band shot to fame after their massive hit “Shut Up and Dance” received constant airplay on radio stations and in grocery stores everywhere.

3/16/16: PromoWest Fest lineup announced: Walk the Moon, Snoop Dogg and more!

The inaugural PromoWest Fest is fast approaching, and excitement is building with this morning’s lineup announcement.

Headliners for the three-day festival include alt-pop band Walk The Moon, G-funk rapper Snoop Dogg, alternative legends Modest Mouse and new-wave duo Tears For Fears.

Other artists include Brand New, LL Cool J, Mac Miller, Fitz and the Tantrums, Garbage, Atlas Genius, J Roddy Walston and the Business, The Wombats, RJD2, AlunaGeorge, The Black Lips and more.

A few lucky local bands made it on the bill as well, including Forest & the Evergreens, The Worn Flints, Way Yes and Nick D and the Believers.

Taking place in the Arena District from July 15-17, tickets will retail for $79 for a day pass, $169 for a three-day pass, and $389 for a VIP three-day pass.
