Weekend Highlight: Diane Coffee w/ Fingers @ Rumba Café

This Saturday night at 9 p.m. Diane Coffee (born Shaun Fleming) is bringing his style of soul-influenced rock to the Rumba Café alongside Columbus locals Fingers–a veritable match made in heaven.

Fleming, who plays drums for indie rock group Foxygen and offered his voice talent to Disney shows like Kim Possible, is known for his dynamic stage presence, and of course, his gender-bending wardrobe.

His recorded music brings to mind 2000s-era Spoon, complete with a horns section and cheery chord progressions.

Fingers, on the other hand, explores music in a vein of mystery, weaving together multilayered jams to produce psychedelic tunes with danceable grooves.

Keep an eye on bassist Vincent Valentino for a chance to see him scream out his trademark falsetto belt, and on drummer Max Slater, who invariably gives emotive, in-the-moment performances.

Even if you haven’t heard of either band, this will be a show that’s easy to get into, and definitely worth checking out.
