“Hop on board to help the victims of the wildfires in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, TN”

Two local companies, Cardinal Transportation, LTD and Treasure Grove Travel, LLC, have partnered to give the Columbus community a way to help the victims of the tragic Tennessee wildfire by supporting them with something we are doing already — holiday shopping.

“Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg rely heavily on tourism to support their economies and, ultimately, their residents.  Many of these residents have lost their homes and/or jobs and need our help more than ever.  We have offered “redeye” shopping trips to New York City in the past, so why not offer one to this region devastated by the wildfires?  Most of us are holiday shopping anyway, so why not take one day and do that shopping in the Smoky Mountains?”  Trish Barbee, President of Treasure Grove Travel said.

The bus will depart from Grove City at 4am this Saturday, December 10, returning Sunday morning.  They will spend an entire day in the region, with stops at Tanger Outlets in Sevierville, The Island in Pigeon Forge, The Old Mill area, Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Community and/or downtown Gatlinburg (dependent upon Gatlinburg reopening).

More details can be found on their site:

  • The transportation fees for this trip have been drastically reduced, compliments of Cardinal Transportation.
  • They are charging a minor of fee of just  $40 per person to help offset equipment and fuel costs.
  • Upon checkout, you will have the option of making an additional donation which will go directly to the victims.  They are working directly with tourism colleagues who are staffing the shelters. Gift cards will be purchased and given to the victims who have lost their homes.  This will directly help them either provide Christmas for their family or buy supplies they truly need.  We also recommend the Dollywood Foundation for online giving.
