East CBUS College Closes Without Notice — Screws Over Everyone

Students and teachers went to their jobs and classes at Heritage College today only to find a sign on the door that read, “Sorry for the inconvenience, as of 11/1/2016 Heritage College Columbus, is officially closed,” according to Fox28. 10 campuses nationwide have closed, leaving many without a clear path to graduation and teachers without a job.

There was no warning the day before, and no sign that the college would soon be closing, but former staff members told Fox28 that the national branch went bankrupt, effectively closing all of its branches.

This will complicate matters for students that wish to continue their college education — they’ll most likely have to enroll elsewhere with no guarantee that their credits from Heritage will transfer over.

On their website, they posted an apology note that read, “Numerous factors contributed to the circumstances including declining student population and a continued, decreased demand for the services of for-profit schools. Heritage did not close due to wrongdoing or a forced closure by a regulatory body, and we did explore a range of options that would have enabled the campuses to remain open serving students. Unfortunately, the options were not viable and our efforts proved unsuccessful.”

Fox28 attempted to contact the Heritage College Columbus headquarters and Denver-based headquarters — no calls were returned.
