Ousted OSU band director gets new job

It was announced yesterday that former Ohio State Marching Band director Jon Waters got a new job at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio.

Though the school doesn’t currently have a marching band, Waters will serve as director of pep bands, and he said he would like to pursue adding a marching band to the school.

Waters was fired from Ohio State after university officials concluded he did not act quickly enough to stop a “sexualized culture” in the marching band. He filed suits against the university in response and received considerable support on social media from band alumni and the general public.

The new director of the Ohio State band is Dr. Christopher Hoch, who served as associate director under Waters.
