IKEA Recalling Deadly Dresser, Responsible for 6 Deaths

29 million MALM dressers will be recalled after six children were killed when the dresser fell on them.

IKEA recommends consumers immediately stop using these chests if they are not properly anchored to the wall. Keep children away from the dresser if immediate anchoring isn’t possible.

IKEA is offering two options, a refund or a free wall-anchoring repair kit.

See the chart below to check if your MALM dresser applies for the refund. Any dressers purchased prior to Jan. 2002 will be eligible for only a partial store credit.
