F-22 Fighter Planes Land in Columbus

If you haven’t yet heard, there’s a huge hurricane ravaging the Caribbean and threatening the East Coast, which is why, according to Fox28, Rickenbacker Air Force Base is now sheltering several F-22 fighter jets.

wing commander Col. Mark Auer said to Fox28 that the base will receive planes depending on the track of the storm, and they’ll consequently leave the base as soon as it’s safe for them.

For plane enthusiasts and Air Force geeks, this will be the chance of a lifetime as these planes are not normally seen on the ground in Ohio. Rickenbacker usually helps them refuel mid-air.

The last time Rickenbacker sheltered planes was during Hurricane Hermine, where it sheltered A-10 planes.
