Amazon buys Whole Foods, one step closer to taking over world

After whipping up an offer that couldn’t be refused, Amazon now owns Whole Foods. Get this, Amazon paid $13.7 IN CASH for the organic grocery chain. About a million dollars fits into a standard suitcase. So Amazon must’ve delivered like.. a whole bunch of suitcases to Whole Foods.

Since the deal, Whole Foods stock skyrocketed 27 percent to $42 a share.

Amazon will keep the brick and mortar business model that Whole Foods has been operating with for 37 years. It’ll still be called “Whole Foods” and maintain their CEO, John Mackey, too. The online retail giant will also continue operating their AmazonFresh food delivery service.

Amazon has been awful for the supermarket contenders like Walmart and Kroger. Now instead of beating them at the online game, Amazon is going to try to beat them at their own game.
