Columbus Considers Financial Aid for Major Franklinton Development

Franklinton is getting a major revamp – Kaufman Development last year proposed an ambitious mix-use project that will offer everything from street-scape improvements to affordable housing wrapped up in a futuristic, sustainable design.

Now, City Council is considering giving the project a financial boost, according to Bizjournals. The project outlines 241 apartments, 50,000 square feet of offices, retail space, restaurants, and a parking garage built on the site of the National Office Warehouse store and Phillip’s Coney Island restaurant on West Broad Street.

The city is proposing to help in three different facets totaling $3.8 million, to view the entire proposal visit the website:

Incentives to reserve 200 public parking spaces in a 564-space garage
An incentive for a last $1 million in the case that Kaufman includes affordable housing in the development.
