Rooks Tavern corking wine and closing grill for good

Rooks Tavern, the upscale beer, wine, and barbecue spot near Ohio State’s campus is putting out their fire for good.

They were open for less than a year on the corner of Chittenden Ave and Summit St. It was the brainchild of two best friends.

“We’re John Havens & Aaron Mercier; best friends since high school, occasional enemies, partners in crime,” Rooks Facebook info divulged.

Perhaps Rooks out punted their coverage planting their roots in an area dominated by 18-22 year olds who are several years shy of developing a pallet for good bourbon, let alone being able to afford it.

Nevertheless, you, your perfect wine-sipping patio, your Hunter’s Platter, and the rest of your smokey cuisine will be dearly missed in the University District. We here at 614NOW wish everyone involved the best of luck in the future.. But circling back to the Hunter’s Platter, please find a way to resurrect this in the near future.
