Great news: Columbus sets standard for progress in Ohio, Midwest

A new report reveals Columbus is a beacon of success in Ohio and the Midwest with job and population growth rates soaring. Moving forward, most of Ohio’s metropolitan areas will fall further and further behind central Ohio’s progress. Icarus may not have been able to hang up there, flying by the sun, but we’re loving the shine.

A new U.S. Conference of Mayors report shows Columbus as one of the Midwest’s economic standouts. An honorable mention goes to Cincinnati for their anticipated steady job growth in the coming years.

But anyway, back to us.

Central Ohio is expected to add at least 10,000 jobs a year until 2020. Our population is forecasted to climb as well– nearly 16 percent by 2046 or 300,000 more people.

A third of the nation’s metro areas still have not recovered the jobs lost during the Great Recession. Columbus isn’t one of them though. Other cities on the path of greatness include Ann Arbor, Indianapolis and Madison, Wisconsin.

We must bear in mind that these are just estimations, but hey, we like the sounds of them.
