This is co-owner Nasir Latif sitting down to a traditional Arabic breakfast. This simple meal reminds him of his years growing up in Palestine. He moved to San Francisco in 1979 as a fresh, 18-year-old high school graduate. His father was a naturalized citizen, so he took it upon himself to come to the United States to make a better life for himself. One of his three jobs at the time was a dishwasher at a 5-star restaurant. Proving to the chef that he could cook, he worked his way up the ranks. The chance he was given now allows him to employ 22 people at Lavash, giving them the opportunity to take charge of their own destiny. This is the American Dream!
