#Eat614 Brunch: ColumBest’s top picks

614now Staff

Not sure if it’s the maple syrup-soaked food, the early morning booze, or all the drunk stories you swap with your friends from the night before but brunch is simply the best. And since it’s one of the best things to do, you may as well know the best places to do it.

(614) Magazine just wrapped up their ColumBest awards, ranking the best radio hosts, ice cream, burger, and just about everything else in the city. Here’s what you all decided are the best brunchin’ spots Columbus has to offer.

#3 Cap City Fine Diner and Bar (6% of votes)

This brunch isn’t afraid of anything; not even serving salmon before noon. Cap City’s brunch offerings lean heavily towards the later part of the word, though their cocktail offerings put a creative twist on traditional morning drinks. They’ve got flatbreads, dips, plenty of egg-based dishes, and a maple-y, fruit-y french toast plate. Yes, please!

#2 Matt the Miller’s Tavern (7.4% of votes)

This place is a bruncher’s buffet paradise. They’ve got a Bloody Mary bar where you can spice up your generous glug of pepper vodka with anything from pickled okra to haricot vert. Continue the DIY trek with the extensive omelet station and sweet waffle making area. Every other brunch box– breakfast meats, potatoes, veggies, biscuits– can be checked at the walk-through buffet, too.

#1 Northstar Cafe (10.2% of votes)

We can’t argue with this vote, Columbus. This celiac, lactose, vegetarian sensitive restaurant does not mess around with brunch. The bakery options alone have us seeing hearts: buttermilk biscuits with cherry preserves, praline scones, dark chocolate truffle cookie. Thanks for making dessert before the p.m. hours acceptable. But wait, there’s more! Ricotta pancakes, mushroom frittatas, and homemade granola bowls, oh my, my.
