Here’s the scoop on the official Ohio State Fair Velvet ice cream flavor

For the past few years, Velvet Ice cream out of little ol’ Utica Ohio has fulfilled the important duty of creating an ice cream flavor especially for the Ohio State Fair.

This year, the top three flavors were Cereal & Milk, Dutch Apple Pie, and Scotcheroo. The goal is to create a flavor that relates to the fair in some way– whether it be dairy cows, apple pie stands, or baked good vendors– and also how well the flavor could be turned into an ice cream.

Velvet brought the three flavors to life and a diverse group of about 40 people took to the challenge of deciding one winner.

This new flavor has big shoes to fill as previous flavors include the likes of maple-bacon, elephant ear, and blueberry sweet corn. But the judges tastefully deliberated to come to one, yummy verdict.

Can I get a drumroll, please…..

This year’s official Ohio State Fair ice cream flavor is CEREAL & MILK.

Kari Childs, 37, of Delaware, thought up the idea with Saturday morning + cartoons + the milk at the bottom of the cereal bowl in mind. The finished product that Velvet created is a sweet milk flavored ice cream with honey-graham cereal swirl.

Get a dip of Velvet’s Cereal & Milk at the fair July 26- Aug. 6, grocery stores, and the Velvet creamery and eatery after the fair.
