The Columbus Parks and Rec Department is throwing a festival to celebrate African-American culture. The party will go down on June 3, 11 a.m.- 8 p.m. in Columbus’ historic King-Lincoln District. The fest will celebrate freedom and equal rights through opportunities to experience the rich history of the African-American culture.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for us, as a city, to celebrate the impact the African-American community has had in building Columbus and helping creating the vibrant, open city we all enjoy,” said Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther.

This is the first year for the African-American Culture Festival but they’ve got a sweet lineup in store including The Flex Crew and E-Flat. There will also be a KidsZone, community wellness resources, an educational walk along Long Street Cultural Wall, and best of all, food vendors.

“City Council is happy to support this first-ever African-American Cultural Festival. I would like to thank the departments of Recreation and Parks and Neighborhoods for bringing the community together to honor the vital history of Columbus’ African-American Community,” said Columbus City Council President Zach Klein.
