Here’s the skinny on what’s new with Boom ’17

It’s hard to believe the Fourth of July is coming up but it’s less than a month away. Per usual, the grilled food, booze, and patriotism-filled weekend will be celebrated hard at Red, White, & Boom. This year, the celebration will throw down on Monday, July 3. To keep us party people on our toes, Boom organizers are switching a few things up this year.

Instead of just one day, the festivities will be stretched out to two. A 5-K will take place on July 2. Organizers felt they should take advantage of the streets that will already be closed for Boom. The race doubles as a way to get morale rolling for Ohio’s biggest fireworks show and also a way to raise money for charity. Get details and register here.

Also new to the show, a beer garden will be sprawled out at the corner of Spring St. and Neil Ave. on both July 2 and July 3. There, there will be a variety of local craft beer for sipping and live music for listening.

Vendors have moved from Nationwide Blvd. to Spring St. Fireworks will be launched from COSI at 10 p.m. like last year. What’s not like last year though, is the extra 60 seconds of gunpowder an colors. The fireworks show has been extended a minute longer (26 minutes in total) and will include custom pyrotechnics. Each blast will be in time to a soundtrack made especially for Boom.

If you wanna feel like a very important person at Boom, you can pre-purchase VIP passes and tents online.
