Top 4: Local musician under guise for tribute shows

Sometimes it feels good to step out of your shoes and into someone else’s for a while, especially for musicians. Our local talent is great but this month, you’ll have four opportunities to see it in a whole new light. From Beatles to Bee Thousand, here are the top four tribute shows happening this December.

Sgt. Peppercorn’s Marathon

December 30 @ The Bluestone

Twelve hours, 215 Beatles songs. If you love the Beatles, be there. If you think they’re overrated, you should still be there. At the very least, you’ll be a new fan of The Whiles, The Receiver, Saturday Giant, Low Men, and all the other Columbus musicians that pull off the spectacular feat.

Flippo: Tribute to Steely Dan

December 29-30 @ Natalie’s Coal-Fired Pizza and Live Music

Local super group FLIPPO is taking the band’s quirky/technical/soulful sound and spreading them over two nights to honor the recent passing of Steely Dan founding member Walter Becker.

Sons of Gladys: Tribute to Tom Petty

December 30 @ King Avenue 5

Sons of Gladys will be mending our heartbreaks with a night full of Tom Petty.

GBV Appreciation Night

December 8 @ Big Room Bar

In honor of the Dayton-native band most Columbus musicians continue to hold a candle to: Guided by Voices. You’re in for an amazing night of local tributes by The Kyle Sowashes, Woosley Band, Brat Curse, Eric Nassau, and more.
