Wendy’s pushing the envelope of fast and “affordable”

Just when you thought Americans couldn’t get any lazier, Wendy’s is betting on it. The fast food chain announced Monday it is testing home delivery using the DoorDash delivery service in Dallas and Columbus. Delivery is free for now during the test phase. However, prospective couch potatoes should know that at least for Wendy’s you will pay a steep price for not hitting their drive-thru window.

A small, spicy chicken sandwich meal (yum) normally runs $6.69 with tax at the High Street location. But ordering through DoorDash you’ll wait 37 minutes and when it arrives, the small meal will set you back a whopping $12.24 – and that is with the currently “free” delivery charge and a small driver tip. That’s an 84% premium in this case.
