Update: Man accused of killing pastor gets $1 million dollar bond

Ricky Skinner is accused of beating an Joseph McDowell to death with a baseball bat. Joseph McDowell was an elderly pastor who reportedly was allowing Skinner and his girlfriend to live in his garage. Police found McDowell’s body after responding to an explosion at his Southard Drive residence, where Skinner and his girlfriend were found on fire.

A Columbus judge has set his bond at $1 million dollars.

Man suspected of killing local pastor back in March has been charged with murder. Ricky Skinner, 42, has been charged for killing 81-year-old Joseph McDowell. Skinner struck McDowell repeatedly with a blunt object.

On the same day of McDowell’s death, a fire was reported at McDowell’s home on Southard Drive. Skinner and his girlfriend had been staying there with McDowell’s permission. The two were injured in the fire. Once the fire was under control, police discovered McDowell’s body in his home.
