Ohio just landed $2 million dollars in grant funds from JP Morgan Chase New Skills for Youth Initiative, which will help the state focus on career-driven education in hopes to bridge jobs skills needed and job skills actually possessed, according to Columbus Business First.

Ohio will use the grant to support the recommendations and other related activities to enhance high-quality, rigorous career pathways that align with the needs of businesses, foster greater business-education collaboration, expand work-based learning opportunities for students and promote pathways leading to industry-recognized credentials.

Ohio will use the grant to initiate career education that aligns with business needs in order to enhance business-education collaboration and expand opportunities for young professionals to have the skills their employers are actually looking for.

“Getting kids excited about job opportunities can begin to capture their imagination,” Kasich said in a press release. “By connecting employers with qualified workers, we’re changing the lives of our students and strengthening Ohio’s economy.”
