Being suspended at 30,000+ feet, going 500+ mph can be a bit nerve-racking. John Glenn Columbus International Airport is planning an event to help people cope with their flying fears.

The workshop is called Facing Takeoff and will provide an intro to the airport as well as air travel. Participants will meet aviation and health professionals and learn about things like:

  • flight mechanics
  • travel skills
  • managing anxiety

If John Glenn is slow the day of the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to do a dry run of entering a security checkpoint and even boarding a plane.

Anyone 10 years of age and older are welcome. Registrations are being accepted until Aug. 21 for the workshop on Aug. 26. Space is limited so contact Barb Varga, Airport Customer Service Coordinator for the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, at [email protected] or 614-239-4006.
