Columbus firefighter recruits investigated for potential cheating

Several Columbus Division of Fire recruits are under scrutiny because they used an online study aid made by a classmate in preparation for a test. The Quizlet closely mirrored questions from the actual exam for emergency medical technicians, raising questions of whether or not cheating was involved. Both the he Fire Division and the Ohio Department of Public Safety are investigating the incident to see if the recruits violated policy.

One study aid that a firefighter created included questions that were worded lightly differently than the test but had almost identical answers. Weirdly enough, the questions on the study guide appeared in the same order as on the test itself. The firefighter behind the study guide said he simply pulled content from the instructor’s review material and developed his own questions.

The department doesn’t  have a policy against uploading class materials to study sites.
