A routine traffic stop on Wednesday escalated into chaos and left one man dead and an officer injured.

It all happened at a gas station in the 1500 block of Lockbourne Road. Officers were attempting to remove 32-year-old Jason Christian from his car but Christian resisted. Probably on account of the several warrants he had out. An officer had his arm in the vehicle when Christian put the car in drive and smashed the accelerator. The officer was drug alongside until both he and Christian tumbled out of the moving vehicle.

Police shot Christian and he later died in the hospital. The officer who was drug by the vehicle was treated for leg and arm injuries but is in stable condition.

Footage of the incident was caught on the gas station security camera but did not catch police shooting Christian. Officers say use of deadly force was necessary because Christian used his car as a weapon.
