SWAT Situation in Southwest Columbus

Columbus Police say a domestic violence incident led to a barricade situation in southwest Columbus Tuesday morning.

Police received a call about the disturbance around 9:30 a.m.

An armed man has barricaded himself in a home on Columbian and Springmont Avenues in west Columbus. Police say the armed man is inside with a child, an elderly man and a dog.

SWAT officers were called to the scene.

Columbus police say the man was preventing an elderly male, a child and dogs from exiting the home.

SWAT officers, patrol officers, and hostage negotiators worked to resolve the situation for a few hours.
