Watch: Horror at the Ohio State Fair, victims identified
The identities of the victims of the horrific accident at the Ohio State Fair have been released.
Tyler Jarrell, 18, of Columbus, died as a result of a ride malfunctioning at the opening day of the fair.
The seven people who were injured are:
- Tamika Dunlap, 36, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio
- Russell Franks, 42, of Columbus, Ohio
- Keziah Lewis, 19, of Columbus, Ohio
- Jacob Andrews, 22, of Pataskala, Ohio
- Jennifer Lambert, 18, of Columbus, Ohio
- Abdihakim Hussein, 19, of Columbus, Ohio
- A 14 year-old male whose name has not been released by the family

In a tragic turn of events at the opening day of the Ohio State Fair last night, one man is dead and seven others are injured after a ride malfunctioned. A high thrill ride called Fire Ball broke apart, sending at least two people flying into the air around 7:20pm. Here is a photo of a Fire Ball ride (not taken at the Ohio State Fair).
The man that died was 18 years old. He was thrown about fifty feet from the Fire Ball ride and died on impact.
Three of the victims were in critical condition and the other four were in stable condition. All seven were taken to local hospitals.
Eleven rides never opened yesterday as inspection work could not be completed.
Governor Kasich ordered 71 rides to shut down around 9pm last night. The rides will be reopened today after an inspection but the rides near Fire Ball are likely to remain closed for investigation.
Otherwise, the fair will proceed as normal today.
