MIS Specialist

Job Descriptions:
Position Summary
The MIS Specialist has the overall responsibility for maintaining and supporting information systems and computing resources. The MIS Specialist will monitor, maintain, repair, install hardware and software components and act as liaison with outside vendors for the agency systems and resources.

Duties and Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, maintain and coordinate third party repair or setup of network, pc and printer hardware/software.
Monitor all systems to ensure that systems, on all platforms, maintain service level availability in line with the business requirements.
Manage the resolution of all Operations related problems; contact vendor support when necessary and follow-up on all solutions.
Setup computer equipment (desktops, laptops, etc).
Create user accounts and ensure nightly backups complete successfully.
Train users in equipment and application usage.
Administer backup and restore strategies.
Administer Security and Virus/Malware protection.
Keep IT plan and Business Continuity Plans up to date.
Develop new and maintain existing electronic billing files (837P and HCFA 1500 form) according to National, State and payer billing rules using existing vendor software.
Be knowledgeable and experienced with the loops and segments of the 837p – Use associated 999, 277 and 835 files to verify and troubleshoot 837P and 835 files to rectify billing issues.
Develop new and maintain existing service, rollup and associated HCPCS codes for billing use.
Be knowledge and experienced with Access and Xcel at the intermediate or above level and develop new and maintain existing DI queries and reports for the purpose of checking client records for accuracy, duplicate entries and a complete EHR.
Document, maintain, develop, code, implement and test computer databases.
Microsoft SQL server for MS Business Solutions application
Avatar (cache database)
Manage PM, Billing and CWS databases
Create and update user tables, forms and events, for use in PM and CWS.
MS Access databases and Xcel
Manage the Avatar reports and caseload databases
Develop and maintain Access tables, forms, queries and reports for managers and other departments. Develop and maintain Xcel pivot tables using Access queries or flat files
Train the direct service staff in Avatar CWS, Mobile Connect, Remote Access
Train the support staff in the general use of Avatar and other functions as needed.
Printers – basic troubleshooting and service calls to vendor
Respond to application and network requests from employees.
Evaluate and recommend data communications needs (hardware & software) and systems upgrades.
Assist users to identify and resolve data communication problems.
Assume additional responsibilities or special projects as needed or directed.

Required Experience:
CompTIA A+ certification, 2+ years work experience in IT support
General experience supporting current Windows PC and Server OS.
Existing environment – Windows 7, Server 2008RS and Server 2012
General experience supporting current Windows PC and Server OS.
Intermediate to advanced level in Microsoft Word, Xcel and Access applications.
VPN access setup and support for remote users
General experience repairing and replacing computer components.
Ability to organize and prioritize work.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
