Let’s continue our theme of celebrating strong women by spinning Alabama Shake’s 2015 break out album, Sound & Color.

It is hard to put Alabama Shakes’ sound in a box, which isn’t a bad thing.

If you don’t live under a rock, you surely have heard the following hits from South & Color: “Don’t Wanna Fight,” “Sound & Color” and “Gimme All Your Love.”

At its core, Alabama Shakes is Brittany Howard. With a unique look and sound, Howard isn’t like anyone else in popular music. Indie rock can be a boys club, but Howard has changed the rules with her hooks, lyrics and soul.

Spin Sound & Color and enjoy Howard’s bluesy brand of Rock and Soul. You and your guests won’t be disappointed.

For those not familiar, GLOW or The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling was a syndicated wrestling program that ran from 1986-90 and the eponymous Netflix series details how the syndicated GLOW came to be.

Glow focuses on struggling actresses Ruth (Alison Brie) and Debbie (Betty Gilpin), former best friends who are now mortal enemies both inside and outside of the ring. As Ruth and Debbie learn to wrestle (a move both believe will help their acting careers), they befriend the other wrestlers/cast members – a collection of underdogs, pariahs and misfits.

The cast is rounded out with washed up director Sam (Marc Maron) and party animal producer ‘Bash’ (Chris Lowell).

As the deadline to air approaches, this group of loveable, last chance rebels work together to put on a show. Along the way they learn about themselves and each other, which is often trope, but works in this instance as GLOW never takes itself too seriously.

GLOW is witty and smart with the right amount of sentimentality and at 30 minutes easy to binge. Give these strong and Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling a shot.

The second season of GLOW premiered on 06/29 and both seasons are available to stream on Netflix.
