Hot dogs are out, Mexican-poke fusion is in on Ohio State’s campus.

Ron Criswell of Press Grill, The Rossi, Philco, and more along with TJ Wellman, Xue Qin Chen, and Xue Gong Chen of Pokébros is taking over Rippers Roadstand at 2036 N. High St. and opened Barbacoa Mexican Fusion and Bar.

Columbus Underground reports the menu will be a mixture between Mexican dishes and poké with dishes starting with sticky rice and edamame and being built up with spicy ahi tuna, tofu, Korean bulgogi, barbacoa, pork belly, firecracker shrimp, or grilled cod and house-made sauces like sweet soy and Sriracha aioli.

Guests can wash their tacos, wraps and bowls down with Barbacoa’s house0made margaritas and/or sangrias.

As far as the atmosphere, the restauranteurs told Columbus Underground it has a comfortable, bodega feel.

Barbacoa hosted a soft opening yesterday and will celebrate their grand opening later this week.
