The unofficial queen of cookies has opened her new shop in the Short North.

Cheryl Krueger, the founder and former president and CEO of Cheryl’s Cookies before it sold in 2005, has her new shop C. Krueger’s Finest Baked Goods raring to go at 17 E. Brickel St.

We visited it yesterday and while it was a bit of a trick to find due to construction, it was worth the hunt.

The cookies range from Belgian Triple Chocolate and Pumpkin with Spiced Buttercream frosting and fresh-baked to pre-packaged.

There are also loads of other goodies like flakey croissants, cinnamon rolls and packaged treats like popcorn and chocolate-covered coffee beans.

At the opening yesterday, the samples were sweet, the coffee was hot, the milk was cold and the employees were as friendly as they come.

If you wanna eat like (614), you’ll opt for the Finest Double Chocolate Cookie.

After selecting the baked goods and libations of choice, guests can meander over into the attached dining area where natural light and seating options are plentiful.

This is also where the gift wrapping area is located because any one of C. Krueger’s treats deserves a bang-up wrap job.

Depending on how the Short North store performs, more C. Krueger’s locations are possible.

C. Krueger’s will be open Monday- Friday 7am- 11pm, Saturday 9am- 11pm and Sunday 9am- 10pm.

Besides gourmet baked goods, Krueger also serves on Ohio State University’s Board of Trustees and has been involved in several over business ventures including the all-natural hangover cure Life Support Recovery Shot, time on the Bob Evans Farms Board of Directors, the Federal Reserve Board District 4-Class B, the Columbus Chamber of Commerce Board among many other achievements.
