North Market losing boutique gift shop

Better Earth, one of the North Market’s select goods and gifts merchants, will be leaving North Market at the end of the year to explore other avenues of commerce.

Better Earth has been a part of the North Market for 27 years, offering customers local soaps, natural cleaning products, local pottery, Amish jam, handcrafted jewelry and much, much more.

Owner Dareen Wearstler will be concentrating her efforts on a brand new online store.

“I have now created an online store which will sell my most popular products and gifts. I will be featuring high-quality perfume oils and essential oils, Simply Organic packet mixes, souvenir Ohio mugs, sage wands, incense, pottery, handcrafted artisan jewelry and more!” Wearstler said.

Wearstler originally launched Better Earth in May 1991 as a full Ecology Store in Beechwold. She then took her business to North Market in September 1991 and has been thoughtfully curating earth-friendly products ever since.

“We are grateful to Dareen for all that she brought to North Market over the years. We are very excited for her in all of her future endeavors and we wish her the very best,” said Rick Harrison Wolfe, North Market Development Authority’s Executive Director.

Better Earth also has two new in-person avenues to shop her beloved products including Heritage Square Antique Mall and Marcia Evans Gallery, where a fine selection of jewelry and beadwork will be available.

Better Earth’s last day in operation at North Market will be December 30, 2018.
