CBJ Seek Road Win with a Capital W

Securing the #1 Wild Card spot in in the Eastern Conference, the Columbus Blue Jackets are set to compete against fellow Metro Division foe Washington Capitals. The regular season series resulted in a 1-3 record for the CBJ, yet Columbus and Washington both scored 12 goals each in those four games. Having said that, the first round of the NHL playoffs for the Blue Jackets will be an uphill challenge with the potential of “anything can happen.”

Will something crazy happen? As the unlikable-at-first prep school hockey coach said in D3: The Mighty Ducks, it takes less than a second to score a goal. How many seconds are there in 60 minutes/one game’s time?

The Columbus Blue Jackets travel to our nation’s capital to play the Washington Capitals tomorrow night at the Capital One Arena at 7:30 p.m. on Fox Sports Ohio and the USA Network in Game 1 of the first-round in the Eastern Conference playoffs. And next week’s return games in Columbus will not only generate excitement among CBJ fans, but Arena District businesses are hopeful the city of Columbus will win on-and-off the ice.

OSU Football: Just $5 for Spring’s Kickoff

Fitting for a spring that can’t decide if it’s going to be warm or cold, the 2018 Ohio State Spring Game’s leading story is the 3-way competition for one of the most prized jobs in the entire state: Ohio State’s starting quarterback.

Underclassmen Dwayne Haskins and Tate Martell, along with upperclassman Joe Burrow have been vying for the QB spot following J.T. Barrett’s departure. The Spring Game this weekend provides a golden opportunity for a breakout moment for one (or all) of these three quarterbacks, plus with a variety of players on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. One way or another, the Buckeyes will be a different team come fall.

Plus, another men’s lacrosse “Showdown at the Shoe” (Ohio State vs. That Team Up North) will precede the football game at 11 a.m.

The Ohio State Spring Game is this Saturday in the Horseshoe at 1:45 p.m. on the Big Ten Network. General admission tickets are $5 with access to both the lacrosse and football games.

Chris Holtmann Is a ★★★★★ Recruiter

The 2017/2018 Ohio State men’s basketball team surpassed all pre-season expectations. The Buckeyes were consistently ranked in the top-tier of the Big Ten conference. And that sustained success is already paying big dividends for head coach Chris Holtmann.

Reportedly, Alonzo Gaffney–a five-star 6’9” junior at Garfield Heights High School in the Cleveland area—has committed to play for the Buckeyes. Like his size, this recruit is huge for the program. Mr. Gaffney is the first glimpse into what the Holtmann era at Ohio State will look like moving forward via recruiting, which is a big, athletic step in the right direction.
