Two orphaned manatee calves will call the Columbus Zoo home until they are ready to be released back into the wild.

Heavy Falcon, a 143-pound male, was rescued from Crystal River Florida and taken to SeaWorld Orlando to begin his rehabilitation.

A yet-to-be-named female was also transported to SeaWorld for the first leg of her recovery after her mother died from serious injuries off the coast of Florida.

Both manatees are acclimating to the Zoo’s 300,000-gallon pool and are visible to the public.

Once they are both matured and recovered, they will be released back into Florida waters.
