10 Hilliard girls making history as they climb Boy Scout ranks

Several girls in Hilliard are breaking barriers to become the first females in central Ohio to advance to the next rank in Cub Scouts.

NBC4i spoke with one of these girls, 10-year-old Mariam Tarazi of pack 148 in Hilliard, who said she sees Boy Scounts (soon to be changed to “Scouts BSA”) is an opportunity for her to spend time with her friends and learn skills like shooting arrows and camping.

NBC4i also spoke with Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland Council CEO Tammy Wharton who said the the Girl Scout program is specifically designed for girls.

However when NBC4i caught up with Cassie Ferguson with the Boy Scouts of America, she said the Boy Scout program can benefit boys and girls.
