Local motorcycle shop closes its doors

The closure of a Weinland Park bike shop will have dozens of customers scrambling to find a reliable mechanic. After 21 years, Rice Paddy Motorcycles will be closing in mid-March.

The land at 1454 N. Grant Ave. has been sold to Wagenbrenner Development who is in charge of many apartment complexes around town as well as the new metro park, Keep it on the QT.

Columbus Underground reports Rice Paddy was forced to bow out after taking hits year after year from e-commerce. The owner, Tom VanStavern, will not open another retail shop.

One upside of the bike shop closing is their going out of business sales.
