Dublin Coffman sophomore dies “unexpectedly” at band practice

A Dublin Coffman High School sophomore died “unexpectedly” at a symphonic band practice Monday night, according to principal Mike Ulring per This Week News.

10TV has identified the student as Andrew Morales, a percussionists for the band and drum line. Morales was having trouble breathing and was rushed to Dublin Methodist Hospital but did not regain consciousness.

“It is with a very heavy heart I share with you that Dublin Coffman has lost a member of its family,” Ulring wrote in an email to parents, courtesy of This Week News. “One of our sophomore students passed away unexpectedly this evening at school while practicing with the Coffman symphonic band. Many of our band students, our band staff and school personnel on site are trying to grasp what took place this evening.”

Grief counselors are at Coffman today, making themselves available to talk with those affected.
