Governor John Kasich joined Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman, members of City Council and others for the groundbreaking of the Reeb Avenue Center this past September. And soon, the former Reeb Avenue Elementary School will be filled again.

When it opens its doors later this month, the Reeb Avenue Center (280 East Reed Avenue) will serve as a vital part of the neighborhood…offering educational services, childcare, support services for families and job training. The center will house new locations for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Eastway Behavioral Healthcare, and other programs and services in addition to new ventures from the Mid-Ohio Foodbank.

The foodbank’s South Side Roots Cafe and Market will afford neighbors the opportunity to purchase groceries and produce (many from urban farms) at affordable prices. As for the market, it will serve lunch Monday thru Friday and brunch on Saturday’s via a pay-what-you-can style.

The new foodbank offerings are expected to open at Reeb in September.  (jj)
