Barrett’s debut not too shabby

Buckeye fans (and fellow players) might have said they had full and complete confidence in the young J.T. Barrett, but fandom aside, he was still gearing up a year earlier than what he expected. In Saturday’s season opener against Navy, the redshirt freshman passed 226 yards. “I was not surprised at all by J.T. I thought he handled himself very well for his first start,” coach Urban Meyer said, according to WTVN. Big Ten thought so too, and named Barrett the league’s freshman of the week, and that’s nothing to sneeze at.

Comparatively, Barrett beat Braxton Miller’s debut (83 yards), and came close to Tim Tebow’s 300 yards in his debut. That’s not too shabby for Barrett’s first competitive game in quite a while (considering his injuries).
