Blackheart Fest, bringing awareness to drug use

Joey Blackheart’s death tugged at the thoughts of those close to him, his friends and his fellow band members of The Girls! and his drug overdose is now being channeled toward raising awareness in the community. Amanda Propaganda and Kevin Failure have launched the first ever Blackheart Fest which begins Friday at 8 p.m. at Café Bourbon St./The Summit. The money raised during the festival will go toward establishing a non profit, Harm Reduction Service in Central Ohio, to aid those struggling with drug addiction and to address the serious issue it has become within the community. “It’s an important cause, especially because there is a heroin epidemic going on in the country,” Failure, told Alive. “People brush it under the rug, but it’s everywhere.”
