Bust out that Members Only jacket, Columbus is getting exclusive pop-up restaurants

Dinner Lab Inc. (based in New Orleans) has added Columbus to its 24 cities of members-only pop-up dining events program. Dinner Lab lets up-and-coming chefs plan a menu, find a nontraditional venue, and create an event. Dinner Lab has 50 full-time employees and will be adding two for Columbus: a market manager to help setup events and a chef to help guest chefs get ingredients and assist in running the kitchen.

Co-founder Zach Kupperman describes its as social dining, since guests are asked for feedback. And while they typically look at local chefs, Dinner Lab’s network also allows them to tap chefs in other cities that could come to Columbus for events. The goal for Columbus is to host at least 70 events a year, but Kupperman knows it will take time to reach that number. He also knows membership fees can help foster the growth of events in new areas. Columbus’ annual membership is $125 (and while that seems a bit steep, it is good for all Dinner Lab events, in any city).

And with most events having between five and 10-course meals, with an ongoing cocktail hour, it seems like Columbus will get to hold onto its foodie reputation.
