Hot Chicken Takeover, the beloved, spicy chicken joint has made it onto the HuffingtonPost. In an article titled “The Hot Chicken Takeover: How One Man’s Ohio Pop-Up Restaurant Is Bringing the Nashville Heat to the Midwest” the author talks about how the Midwest is generally thought of as an abyss when it comes to hot, spicy comfort food (wasn’t that what Tennessee is for?). But owner Joe DeLoss was hoping to “change all of that and bring this traditional southern cuisine to the Midwest.” The pop-up restaurant is still in its infancy, but DeLoss has pushed forward and has already run a successful Kickstarter for a chicken trailer, not to be confused with a chicken truck of course.

While yes, the star of the article is DeLoss and his glorious chicken, the HuffingtonPost also take a look at how DeLoss helps to employ those who might generally have a tough time finding employment. The chicken is about serving the community, as is the restaurant culture. Attempting to convey how good the chicken was though (and how little the community feel mattered in the end) the author said, “Well Joe, I see your point, but allow me to be frank. After experiencing an HCT meal for myself, the atmosphere could very well be a rancid garbage dump engulfed with malicious tigers and terrible elevator music and I would be too enthralled by the fried piece of heaven in my hand to care.”
