Land-Grant sets an open date

The bearded Franklinton brewers have finally set an opening date for Oct. 18. While Land-Grant was open during Independents Day, it wasn’t tapping any of its own brews. The beers on tap are Stiff-Arm IPA, Greenskeeper Session IPA, Son of a Mudder Brown Ale and 1862 Ale, an American kolsch.

Land-Grant Brewing moving in, tapping beers

Land-Grant Brewing, previously Oval Brewing (the name changed after a trademark issue) has had quite a few bumps in the journey to getting a brewery. They successfully campaigned via Kickstarter in 2012, but their original location in Grandview ended up falling through. Brewing is set to begin next week and by October, thirsty patrons will be able to drink Land-Grant Beer on tap. The 20-barrel brewhouse also plans to have a taproom with 12 Land-Grant taps and 6 other taps, according to Columbus Business First. The name is an ode to Ohio State, as was their previous name, and the Franklinton brewery will be under the wing of Jamie Feihel, who used to be at Columbus Brewing Company.
