In north Columbus, off Bethel Road, owner Mike Shek is serving up ramen in his new restaurant Meshikou. He found himself searching for ramen restaurants when he would go to the east and west coast and finally decided to simply open his own and bring it right to Columbus. Meshikou officially opened on Oct. 1, and so far Shek said customers have been pleased with the noodles and the dishes. He hopes to differentiate himself from any other ramen shop through his broth. “The main thing is the broth itself. That’s the soul of the bowl, so we twist it a little bit,” he said, noting how his bowls have a different flavor than many others.
