Plastic bags might be a thing of the past as Clintonville Area Commission members approved a resolution that calls for Columbus City Council to place a fee on single-use plastic bags. The goal of the advisory panel is to reduce the use of plastic bags. The resolution outlines the environmental hazards of plastic bags and brings to light the fact that less than 10 percent of them are recycled. There are still several steps that need to be taken before anything more comes from the resolution, but the conversation about the use, or rather nonuse, of plastic bags is making headway in Columbus.
