Attorney General Mike DeWine is cracking down on those who are able to use the semi-controversial facial-ID system. It’s a fairly new software that has begun to make police look like they do in the movies. It allows police to put a photo of an unknown person or suspect and the software searches Ohio’s database of license pictures and mug shots. That’s about 23 million photos it’s going through. DeWine has taken concerns about privacy seriously and begun to limit how many are allowed to use the system. To truly execute the limitations, DeWine’s office announced that only 5,594 officers are now cleared to use it, which is lower by 29 percent, according to the Dispatch.
