Kasich (and everyone else) crushes FitzGerald for money raised

It wasn’t all that shocking that incumbent Governor John Kasich demolished opponent Ed FitzGerald in terms of raising money in August. In fact, pretty much everyone expected that. What wasn’t quite as expected was that FitzGerald wasn’t just out raised by his personal opponent, but by nearly every other candidate for a nonjudicial office in Ohio. Eight reported their raised funds Thursday, and just two raised less in August than FitzGerald’s $111,000, according to the Dispatch.

Kasich raised $1.2M in August, FitzGerald still unknown

Candidates for state offices are required to disclose how much money they have raised in the past month by 4 p.m. Thursday. Governor John Kasich has raised $1.2 million in August for reelection, according to the report filed Thursday, but his opponent Democrat Ed FitzGerald hasn’t yet filed his report (and the clock is ticking down). According to the Dispatch, FitzGerald has said he will be giving much of the remaining money back to the Ohio Democratic Party.
