UPDATE: Mayor Michael Coleman has announced he will not be seeking reelection at City Hall. Reports have surfaced the Sheriff Zach Scott might announce he will run for mayor. Coleman thanked his friends and those who supported him through his many years as mayor at a press conference Tuesday afternoon. “I have 13 months left on my term, and I don’t intend to spend them looking through photos albums,” he said. The mayor said he will spend his remaining months left getting the city “convention-ready” without the distraction of a political campaign.

After 15 years of standing at the helm of Columbus, Mayor Michael Coleman plans to announce he won’t run for reelection, the Dispatch reported. The announcement is expected to come on Tuesday at a 1:30 p.m. press conference at City Hall.
