Following failed levy 5 firefighters lose jobs
Despite efforts by firefighters in Franklin township, the fire levy didn’t end up passing. Voters didn’t choose to pass it, and five firefighters were laid off because of the budget cuts that had to be made. Those who lost their position included a war veteran and Purple Heart recipient, the Dispatch reported. The issue lost by 175 votes.

A firefighter could come knocking at your door
Firefighters are going door to door (not trying to sell you anything either) in an effort to create support for the fire levy that would add $800,000 to their budget. Firefighters in Franklin township have been passing out fliers, knocking on doors and talking with residents on how the levy could help. Some firefighters have said that the levy is vital, and if it doesn’t pass a lot of equipment would go without a firefighter and a fire station could even close down, 10TV reported.
